“Accidents” Aren't Normal Aging – Learn How To Avoid Them

“Accidents” Aren't Normal Aging – Learn How To Avoid Them in my conversation with Dr. Elena.

Urinary incontinence in the elderly is a prevalent, bothersome and costly problem, and is not necessarily a normal part of aging. Structural changes in the aging bladder and urethra may cause the elderly to the development of urinary incontinence.

During my conversation with Elena, I learned of the many reasons people become incontinent. I had no idea that some everyday behaviors can be problematic. Tuning in to this episode may not initially be a high priority, but you'll be glad you did when you avoid many of the problems that incontinence causes!

Given that most caregivers end up dealing with toileting issues as well as UTIs, understanding how to lessen these challenges is a big benefit.
